A little something about Roxette

It's tempting to write Roxette off as nothing more than a shallow pop-rock act of the late '80s, but their shameless hooks are precisely what makes them so enjoyable. Roxette has a knack for writing extremely catchy and simple hooks and melodies that are sweet but not saccharine; it's radio-friendly pop, but the hooks don't wear thin with repeated plays. The duo of guitarist Per Gessle and vocalist Marie Fredriksson released an album in 1986 that didn't display much of their talents, but the infectious follow-up, 1988's Look Sharp!, brought them to the top of the charts in America and England; 1991's Joyride was almost equally successful. After a couple of years off, Roxette returned with a new album, Crash! Boom! Bang!, in 1994; Baladas enEspanol followed in 1997, and two years later the duo returned with the EP Stars.

The Look

Walking like a man, hitting like a hammer, she's a juvenile scam.Never was a quitter, tasty like a raindrop,She's got the look.Heavenly bound cause heaven's got a number when she's spinning me around, kissing is a colour. Her loving is a wild dog,She's got the look.CHORUS:She's got the look. She's got the look. What in the world can make a brown-eyed girl turn blue. When everything I'll ever do I'll do for youAnd I go, la la la la la she's got the look.Fire in the ice naked to the t-bone is a lover's disguise.Banging on the head drum, shaking like a mad bull,She's got the look.Swaying to the band, moving like a hammer she's a miracle man.Loving is the ocean, kissing is the wet sand,She's got the look. And she goes, na na na na na na na na

It must have been loveLay a whisper on my pillowLeave the winter on the groundI wake up lonelyThere's air of silence in the bedroom and all aroundTouch me nowI close my eyesAnd dream away...CHORUS:It must have been love but it's over nowIt must have been good but I lost it somehowIt must have been love but it's over nowFrom the moment we touched 'til the time had run outMake-believing we're togetherThat I'm sheltered by your heartBut in and outside I've turned to waterLike a teardrop in your palmAnd it's a hardChristmas dayI dream away...It must have been love but it's over nowIt was all that I wanted, now I'm living withoutIt must have been love but it's over nowIt's where the water flows, it's where the wind blows
Joyride Hit the road out of nowhere, I had to jump my car and be a rider in the love game following the stars. don't need no book of wisdom, I get no money talk at all. She has a train going downtown, she's got a club on the moon and she's telling all her secrets in a wonderful balloon. Oh she's the heart of the funfair, she's got me whistling her private tune. And it all begins where it ends, and she's all mine, my magic friend She says: Hello, you fool, I love you. C'mon join the joyride, join the joyride She's a flower, I can paint her, she's a child of the sun, we're a part of this together, could never turn around and run. Don't need no fortune teller to know where my lucky love belongs oh no. Cos it all begins again when it ends, and we're all magic friends She says: hello, you fool, I love you. C'mon join the joyride, be a joyrider I take you on a skyride, a feeling like you're spellbound. The sunshine is a lady who rox you like a baby.
