Classix Nouveaux

A little something about Classix Nouveaux
London DJ Steven Pearse, known simply as Stevo, made a name for himself by showcasing the music of fresh faces of the London music scene in early 80s. In 1981 - while still just 19 years old - Stevo put together a compilation album of what he felt were the most promising unknown acts of the day. Released as Some Bizzare Album, the record brought instant recognition to such bands as Clock DVA, Cabaret Voltaire, Depeche Mode, the The, Blancmange, Soft Cell, and Classix Nouveaux. While other names that appeared on the record went on to much greater levels of stardom, Classix Nouveaux made a strong impression, and is still memorable for their look and sound. Their music was, at times, capable of being much fuller and more grand than many of the synth bands of the day, and the band's reliance on guitars as well as synths belied their punk roots. Led by the bald-headed Sal Solo, Classix Nouveaux managed to get a few good breaks in their early days, such as the Some Bizzare appearance and a gig touring with Adam and the Ants. Their single "Guilty" was an early - if minor - UK chart success; in 1982 they made it as far as #13 with the single "Is It A Dream?" Unable to shake their avant-garde image, major success never materialized for Classix Nouveaux. After recording a third album, the band called it quits, with front man Solo appropriately attempting a solo career

Now for some lyrics...

Guilty

Don't say a word, I know what you're thinking
It's plain to see
I see my opportunities shrinking
In front of me
I know you've made up your mind
But don't say
Although I'm guilty of no crime
It's the same

Guilty, guilty you've found me guilty...

I wonder why you haven't the time for
The reasons why
To hear the truth might alter your mind or
Open you eyes
I know you've made up your mind
But don't say
Although I'm guilty of no crime
It's the same

Guilty, guilty you've found me guilty...
