Cars
A little something about the Cars
The Cars - Ric Ocasek, Greg Hawkes, Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton and late addition David Robinson - were a product of the late '70s American new wave scene. Like their contemporaries, the band sited such progressive '70s acts as Bowie, Lou Reed and Roxy Music as influences, acts for whom the visual side of the presentation was nearly as important as the musical side. The band's interest in visual presentation was evident in their excellent videos, an important medium for early '80s bands. The Cars were perfect for early MTV - they weren't controversial, they dressed well and kept their hair fashionable, and the music was catchy without being too cerebral.
While perhaps not as influential as fellow new wave acts the Talking Heads or Blondie, the Cars had a longer strong of success in the early '80s then either band. From their 1977 debut single "Just What I Needed" up to their final album in 1987, the band scored one top ten hit after another, including such memorable tunes as "Just What I Needed," "Since You're Gone," "Drive," Shake It Up," "Tongiht She Comes" and "You Might Think."

Drive
Who's gonna tell you when
It's too late
Who's gonna tell you things
Aren't so great
CHORUS:
You can't go on
Thinking nothing's wrong
Who's gonna drive you home tonight
Who's gonna pick you up
When you fall
Who's gonna hang it up
When you call
Who's gonna pay attention
To your dreams
Who's gonna plug their ears
When you scream
CHORUS
Who's gonna hold you down
When you shake
Who's gonna come around
When you break
My best friend's girl
You're always dancing down the street
With your suede blue eyes
And every new boy that you meet
He doesn't know the real surprise
Here she comes again
When she's dancing 'neath the starry sky
She'll make you flip
Here she comes again
When she's dancing 'neath the starry sky
You kinda like the way she dips
She's my best friend's girl
She's my best friend's girl
And she used to be mine
You've got your nuclear boots
And your drip dry glove
And when you bite your lip
It's some reaction to love
You might think
You might think I'm crazy
To hang around with you
Maybe you think I'm lucky
To have something to do
But I think that you're wild
And inside me is some child
CHORUS:
You might think it's foolish
Or maybe it's untrue
You might think I'm crazy
But all I want is you
You might think it's hysterical
But I know when you're weak
You think you're in the movies
And everything's so deep
But I think that you're wild
When you flash that fragile smile
CHORUS
And it's hard so hard to take
There's no escape without a scrape
You kept it going till the sun fell down
You kept it going
You might think I'm delirious
The way I run you down
But somewhere sometime
When you're curious
I'll be back around
And I think that you're wild
And so uniquely styled
