Alison Moyet
A little something about Alison Moyet
While Alison Moyet's rise to stardom can be largely attributed to her amazing voice, she may never have made it if it hadn't been for one musician's desire NOT to play for one of the biggest selling bands of the 1980s, Depeche Mode.
Vince Clark was largely responsible for many of Depeche Mode's early success, writing and play keyboards with the band. When he left the band seeking independence, he discovered Alison Moyet and got to work merging her soulful singing style and his electronic tastes. The result was Yazoo, simply Yaz in the States, and while not long-lived as Depeche Mode the music Yaz created was arguably as important as their synth-pop cousins.
Moyet eventually followed Clarke's footsteps and left Yazoo in search of more independence through a solo career. Her solo material has been more fuller and seems more from the heart than her work as part of Yazoo, though her more traditional, soul-influenced style could never have the impact that the forward-thinking Yazoo had. Her 1984 release, entitled "Alf" after her nickname, gave her some hits of her own, including "Invisible" and the beautiful "Love Resurrection."
While both Clarke and Moyet still record new material, Clarke's career is currently more active as half of Erasure.

Anyone
Fate took a freeway to my room
Said to much while he stayed
And left too soon
Bright on an evening sea
He washed in with the tide
Deep in each other's dreams
Where all but dreams had died
Wretched in your thoughts
Gentle hate within the love you bought
Words fade like flowers shadowed
There beneath your wall
Wind cries from every angle
Dead leaves left to wait for fall
And in my darkest hour
When I can find no light
My goals are out of sight
And nothing warms the night
I close my eyes
And with such sweet surprise
I can be anywhere
I can be anyone
And in my darkest hour
When I can find no light
My goals are out of sight
And nothing warms the night
I close my eyes
And with such sweet surprise
I can be anywhere
I can be anything
I can be anyone
I can be anyone
Love Resurrection
What can I do to make light of this dull dull
day
What switch can I pull to illuminate the way
Show me one direction
I will not question again
For a warm injection
Is all I need to calm the pain
We all need a love resurrection
Just a little divine intervention
We all need a love resurrection
Just a little divine intervention
What seed must I sow to replenish this barren
land
Teach me to harvest I want you to grow in my
hand
Lets be optimistic, lets say that we won't toil in
vain
If we pull together we'll never fall apart again
We all need a love resurrection
Just a little divine intervention
We all need a love resurrection
Just a little divine intervention
Show me one direction
I will not question again
For a warm injection
Is all I need to calm the pain
We all need a love resurrection.......
All Cried Out
You took your time to come back this
time
The grass has grown under your feet
In your absence I changed my mind
And someone else is sitting in your seat
I know that I said that there'd be
no-one else
I know that I said I'd be true
But baby - I burned Cupid's arrow
And here's the short and narrow
I've nothing left to offer you
'Cause I'm all cried out
You took a whole lot of loving for
a handful of nothing
All cried out
It's hard to give you something when
You're pushing and shoving me around
So don't look surprised there was
no disguise
You know where I stood from the start
So stop - look around you
You're right back where I found you
Take back your cold and empty heart
You go your way
I'll go mine
I won't stay around here
Don't waste my time
All cried out.......
