I kept an eye on ebay and got a used copy of the video tape for $20. There were a few other auctions for the tape still going on if anyone else is really interested in getting it.

Well, I got the movie on Ebay for $20. If anyone is interested in getting an mp3 of the song No One's Happier than I, let me know. I made one from the video tape. Not exactly high fidelity, but not too bad.

Now i have located a dvd copy of jack and the beanstalk. Is it possible to rip only the songs from the dvd and store them as mp3's?

I was under the impression this movie was not available on DVD, so I'm interested in where you got a copy. Anyway, it is possible to Rip a DVD and then in turn extract the music and compress it to DVD. I've done it, but it wasn't a lot of fun. Here's a good site on the web to start with if you really want to try this: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2vcd_with_smart_dvd2avi_tmpgenc.cfm When I extracted the music from the video tape of Jack & the beanstalk, I simply put the audio out from my VCR into the audio in of my SoundBlaster card and used there sound recorder program to capture the audio. Unfortunately this introduced a lot of hiss because the source was a video tape. If you do rip a copy of "No ones happier than I" from DVD, I'd love to get a clearer copy of the song. I haven't ripped a DVD and coverted the audio to MP3 in over a year, so I'm rusty on all the steps, but if you run into trouble with instructions on the site I listed above, send me an email with the problem(s) and I'll see if I can't help. bfollett, well i ordered it off this anime site. We shall see if it is the real thing or not. Hopefully it is. It could be someoine just burned a vcr tape to dvd. i dunno. if it is the real thing, i will rip the whole soundtrack. And i will be more than happy to make it available to everyone here(free of charge). one more thing, the song you got off the tape: i take it it would also include all the background stuff that also played during the song? the one song i want is the guitar solo that was played when madame hecuba confronted jack and margaret after jack escaped from the giant at the well scene. If you were to take that off the video, i suppose the talking during the solo could not be filtered. is this true? mikecoon

Yeah, if there is talking in during a song, there's no real way to get rid of it, I've seen some success with programs if it is a stereo recording and the voice is center channel, but I believe this is simply a mono recording, so the left and right channels would contain the same data. Fortunately the song I was after had no talking during it. I even spliced together the main portion of the with an extra verse that plays at the end of the movie. The ending verse does have sounds of the Giant falling off the beanstalk, but its basically instrumental at that point, so I just faded out and ended the song before it gets to that. Good luck and keep me(us) up to date on how much success you have ripping the audio from the DVD. I'm jealous you found a DVD. I would have held out if I'd known it existed.

bfollett, I got the DVD in and it is the real thing. I used DVD Audio Ripper to get the soundtrack off. Unfortunately, the soundtrack and voices were placed on the same channel so i could not seperate the music from the rest. Now, how do we getin touch with gisaburo sugii? i been trying for sevral years. also, I found peter J Solmo addy and wrote to him. Unfortunately he died in the late 19070's . Iyt was his widow who replied to me. She does not know who i can get in touch with about the movie. mikecoon
