U2

A little something about U2
Apart from being among the top selling bands of the 1980s (and since), Irish rock band U2 has long been concerned with the troubles in Northern Ireland. Their 1983 album War, which in the opinion of at least this listener contains some of the band's best work, demonstrates the strong influence that the culture of war and violence had on the band, through such powerful tracks as "New Year's Day" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday."

I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I have climbed the highest mountainsI have run through the fieldsOnly to be with youOnly to be with youI have run I have crawledI have scaled these city wallsOnly to be with youBut I still haven't foundWhat I'm looking forBut I still haven't foundWhat I'm looking forI have kissed honey lipsFelt the healing in her fingertipsIt burned like fireThis burning desireI have spoke with the tongue of angelsI have held the hand of a devilIt was warm in the nightI was cold as a stoneBut I still haven't foundWhat I'm looking forBut I still haven't foundWhat I'm looking forI believe in the Kingdom ComeThen all the colors will bleed into oneBut yes I'm still running. You broke the bondsYou loosened the chainsYou carried the crossAnd my shameAnd my shameYou know I believed itBut I still haven't foundWhat I'm looking forBut I still haven't foundWhat I'm looking for

Where the streets have no nameI want to runI want to hideI want to tear down the wallsThat hold me insideI want to reach outAnd touch the flameWhere the streets have no nameI want to feel, sunlight on my faceSee that dust cloud disappear without a traceI want to take shelter from the poison rainWhere the streets have no nameWhere the streets have no nameWhere the streets have no nameWe're still buildingThen burning down love, burning down loveAnd when I go thereI go there with you...(It's all I can do)The cities a floodAnd our love turns to rustWe're beaten and blown by the windTrampled into dustI'll show you a placeHigh on ta desert plainWhere the streets have no nameWhere the streets have no nameWhere the streets have no nameStill buildingThen burning down loveBurning down loveAnd when I go thereI go there with you(It's all I can do)

With or Without YouSee the stone set in your eyesSee the thorn twist in your sideI wait for youSleight of hand and twist of fateOn a bed of nails she makes me waitAnd I wait....without youWith or without youWith or without youThrough the storm we reach the shoreYou give it all but I want moreAnd I'm waiting for youWith or without youWith or without youI can't liveWith or without youAnd you give yourself awayAnd you give yourself awayAnd you giveAnd you giveAnd you give yourself awayMy hands are tiedMy body bruised, she's got me withNothing left to winAnd nothing else to loseWith or without youWith or without youI can't liveWith or without you

New Years DayAll is quiet on New Year's Day, A world in white gets underway, And I want to be with you, Be with you night and day. Nothing changes on New Year's Day. I will be with you again. I will be with you again.Under a blood-red sky A crowd has gathered in black and white. Arms entwined, the chosen few, Newspapers say, it says it's true. And we can break through, though torn in two we can be one. I will begin again, I will begin again. Oh and maybe the time is right, Oh maybe tonight. I will be with you again. I will be with you again. And so we are told this is the golden age And gold is the reason for the wars we wage. Though I want to be with you, To be with you night and day. Nothing changes on New Year's day
Sunday Bloody Sunday I can't believe the news today, I can't close my eyes and make it go away. How long, how long must we sing this song? How long? Tonight we can be as one. Broken bottles under children's feet, Bodies strewn across a dead end street, But I won't heed the battle call, It puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall. Sunday, bloody Sunday. Sunday, bloody Sunday. And the battle's just begun, There's many lost, but tell me who has won? The trenches dug within our hearts, And mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart. Sunday, bloody Sunday. Sunday, bloody Sunday. How long, how long must we sing this song? How long, Tonight we can be as one. Tonight, tonight. Sunday, bloody Sunday. Sunday, bloody Sunday. Wipe the tears from your eyes, Wipe your tears away, Wipe your blood shot eyes. Sunday, bloody Sunday. Sunday, bloody Sunday. And it's true we are immune. When fact is fiction and T.V. is reality, And today the millions cry, We eat and drink while tomorrow they die. The real battle just begun. To claim the victory Jesus won, On a Sunday bloody Sunday, Sunday bloody Sunday.
Bad If you twist and turn away. If you tear yourself in two again. If I could, yes I would If I could, I would let it go. Surrender, dislocate. If I could throw this lifeless Lifeline to the wind. Leave this heart of clay, See you walk, walk away, Into the night. And through the rain. Into the half-light, And through the flame. If I could throw myself, set your spirit free. I'd lead your heart away, See you break, break away Into the light. And to the day. To let it go, And so to fade away. To let it go, And so fade away. I'm wide awake. I'm wide awake. I'm not sleeping. Oh, no, no. If you should ask then maybe They tell you what I would say. True colors fly in blue and black, bruised silken skies and burning flag. Colors crash, collide in blood shot eyes. If I could, you know I would. If I could, I would let it go. This desparation. Dislocation. Separation. Condemnation. Revelation. Temptation. Isolation. Desolation. Let it go, And so to fade away. To let it go, And so fade away. Oh, no I'm wide awake. I'm wide awake. I'm not sleeping. Oh, no no .
