Mr. Mister

A little something about Mr. Mister
Phoenix, Arizona act Mr. Mister strung together a few hits in the middle of the 1980s, beginning with "Hunters of the Night" from their debut album, I Wear the Face. The following year they hit on the right formula, with hits "Kyrie" and "Broken Wings," both of which made it to the top of the American pop charts and broke the top 40 in the UK. Mr. Mister had many of the right elements going for it from the start. Richard Page, Steve George, Pat Mastelotto and Steve Farris had all been doing session work for other artists before coming together to claim their own piece of the industry's pie. Their insider status helped them secure studio time and a contract with RCA, as well as a high-profile gig opening for Tina Turner. The glitter had apparently worn off, however, by the release of their 1987 album, Go On, as they were unable to repeat their earlier successes.

Lyrics shown below : "Broken Wings", "Kyrie"

Broken Wings

Baby, I don't understand
Why we can't just hold on
To each others' hands
This time will be the last
I fear unless I make it all so clear
I need you so
Take these broken wings
And learn to fly again
And learn to live so free
And when we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in

Baby I think tonight
We can take what was wrong
And make it right
I need you so
Baby, it's all I know
That you're half of the flesh
And blood that makes me whole
I need you so

Take these broken wings
And learn to fly again
And learn to live so free
And when we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in

Kyrie

The wind blows hard against this mountain side
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road

My heart is old it holds my memories
My baby burns agem like flame
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine
Is where I find myself again

*CHORUS*
Kyrie Eleison
Down the road that I must travel
Kyrie Eleison
Through the darkness of the night
Kyrie Eleison
Where I'm going will you follow
Kyrie Eleison
On a highway in the light

When I was young I thought of growing old
Of what my life would mean to me
Would I have followed down my chosen road
Or only wished what I could be

Oh...Oh...Oh
Oh...Oh...Oh
Oh...Oh...Oh
Oh...Oh...Oh

 (repeat to end)
