Living Colour

A little something about Living Colour
Living Colour arrived on the scene after their hit "Cult of Personality" hit the airwaves in 1988. The band later opened for the Rolling Stones' Steel Wheels tour and played Lollapalooza in 1991. Their first effort, 1988's Vivid, rose to No. 6 on the U.S. charts and earned the band a Grammy. Their second album, 1990's Time's Up, won the band another Grammy and preceded their 1991 world tour. Their third album, Stain, followed in 1993 but proved to be less successful. Living Colour broke up in 1995 and its members pursued solo projects. Reid released an album in 1996 called Mistaken Identity and Glover released a solo album called Hymns in 1998. Calhoun and Wimbish formed a band called Jungle Funk and put out a self-titled album in 1999. But the time apart was short-lived. In December 2000, after playing an unannounced show at CBGB, the foursome reunited and are now starting to think about a new album they plan to release next year. In the meantime, Calhoun and Wimbish are also working with rapper Mos Def on his next album and the band has been touring clubs across the country.

Cult of Personality

Look into my eyes, what do you see?
Cult of Personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I've been everything you want to be
I'm the Cult of Personality
Like Mussolini and Kennedy
I'm the Cult of Personality
        Cult of Personality
        Cult of Personality

Neon lights, A Nobel Price
The mirror speaks, the reflection lies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set me free
I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your T.V.
I'm the Cult of Personality
I exploit you still you love me

I tell you one and one makes three
I'm the Cult of Personality
Like Joseph Stalin and Gandhi
I'm the Cult of Personality
        Cult of Personality
        Cult of Personality

Neon lights a Nobel Prize
A leader speaks, that leader dies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set you free

You gave me fortune
You gave me fame
You me power in your God's name
I'm every person you need to be
I'm the Cult of Personality
