A little something about Animotion
Let's see; first there was Berlin, a new wave/synth act who made a name for themselves in 1982 with the song "Sex," an eye-opening track in which male and female lead vocals exchange racey lines about possesing each other sexually. Three years later we had Animotion, a synth-pop act who made a name for themselves with "Obsession," in which male and female lead vocals exchange racey lyrics about possessing each other sexually. This is not to say that "Obsession" was a bad song, ... on the contrary, it is fine example of 1980s synth-pop. Nor am I suggesting that the band consciously immitated the successful formula used by Berlin... Berlin was much more successful. Animotion had a sizable chart/MTV hit in 1985 with "Obsession," but little else came of them. The band kept at it until both original singers left in 1988, and then kept at it even a bit longer before hanging up the name Animotion beside the many other memorable one-hit-wonders of the 80's.
